Here is an interesting opportunity if you are into "all things water" (and Columbia Slough Watershed Council (Melissa's site) is helping out with it!):
Dear Educators who deal with watersheds, rivers, groundwater, drinking water, water recreation or essentially anything wet:
This year, the annual River Rally (River Network's national celebration of rivers- read more belowsignature) is to be held locally this May in Stevenson, Washington. As a part of this event, an entire track of the Rally will be dedicated to all things education. I have attended this event for the last two years and found it a fabulous way to learn, share and get inspired about watershed education.
During the education track, Sue Baker (USFS) and I are teaming up to offer a session called, "Resources forEducation & Communication Programs." Our hope is that this session can be an opportunity for attendees to get some real time to see, manipulate and explore hands-on education tools that deal with water issues. This is where you come in...........
Do you have a tangible education tool or display that you think others would enjoy seeing? Products like Enviroscape, stream tables, groundwater models orother table top displays may be ideal. We are looking for partners to participate in this session, to make it a bit of an open house or a smorgasbord of sharing some of the amazing local resources and organizationsin our area.
The session will be held on Monday, May 21st from3:30-5:00 pm at Skamania Lodge in Stevenson(www.rivernetwork.org/rally/). If you are interested in participating, please contact me individually at: rachel.felice@columbiaslough.org or 503 281-1132 (please don't reply to the group). We think this effort will be a great way to celebrate some of our region's outstanding science and environmental education efforts.
Thank you for your work,
Rachel

River Network's National River Rally 2007 will help grassroots groups harness the power of citizen involvement to protect rivers and build healthier communities and watersheds. The River Rally will bring together hundreds of friends of rivers, water keepers, monitors, watchdogs, stewards, guardians and others involved in watershed protection and restoration. Together, we will celebrate rivers, teach and learn from each other, and explore the power of citizen action. More info at:www.rivernetwork.org/rally/
